Webster Bank Appoints Christopher Rowe SVP, Continuous Improvement Unit Leader

WATERBURY, Conn., March 8, 2010 – Webster Bank, the main subsidiary of Webster Financial Corporation (NYSE: WBS), has named Christopher Rowe senior vice president, continuous improvement unit leader.

In his new position Rowe has frequent interaction with senior management and key personnel and works to identify, develop and implement strategic initiatives that have substantial impact to Webster’s bottom line. He directs a team that plans, measures, and improves complex and strategic operations across the company.

Rowe joined Webster in 1998 as the operations development manager in the consumer and mortgage lending area. He was promoted to project manager in 2007 and in 2009 he joined the continuous improvement department.

Prior to Webster, Rowe served with Fleet Bank from 1991 to 1998 as a team leader in its consumer call center and as a training and development specialist. He began his banking career at Connecticut Bank & Trust in deposit operations from 1989 to 1991.

Rowe earns a bachelors degree in business administration from Central Connecticut State University. He also holds professional certifications in both Project Management and Six Sigma.
