WATERBURY, Conn., April 26, 2010 – Webster Bank, the main subsidiary of Webster Financial Corporation (NYSE: WBS), announced that Frank J. Celentano, Jr. has joined the company as regional manager for Business and Professional Banking for Westchester County, N.Y., and western Connecticut encompassing all of Fairfield County, as well as the Danbury and Shelton regions.
Celentano will oversee Webster’s efforts across the region in the small business market, which serves businesses with revenues less than $10 million, as the bank seeks to expand business lending across its four-state footprint of New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Webster announced in January that it intends to increase business lending by $400 million and originate more than $850 million in new loans in 2010 in order to stimulate economic growth and job creation.
Celentano has more than two decades banking experience in the region. He joins Webster from Commerce Bank/TD Bank where he most recently served as regional vice president for commercial banking for the Bronx and North Manhattan, and earlier as commercial banking team leader in the Bronx and southern Westchester.
Prior to Commerce/TD Bank, Celentano worked in variety of positions across greater New York, including; as business banking sales director at The Bank of New York/JP Morgan; as small business services director at Fleet Bank; and as business and professional banking director at Citibank.
Celentano earned a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. He served on the boards of the Bronx Chamber of Commerce, the Hudson Valley Chamber of Commerce, the Service Corps of Retired Executives and several other Chamber boards in the region.
